Why you'd want to live in North Buckhead
North Buckhead is a luxurious neighborhood that sits at the forefront of Atlanta’s most exciting development projects. Heavily wooded lots conceal gorgeous new-construction homes and opulent high-rise condos poke above the horizon. With the Phipp’s Plaza Mall at its south end and the 400 toll road bisecting it, North Buckhead offers an extremely convenient location for commuting and shopping. Once home to agricultural fields and occasional country estates, North Buckhead grew rapidly in the late 1950s and has not slowed since. In 1818, John and Nancy Evans became the first investors to buy extensive tracts of land in the North Buckhead area. Nancy lent her name to the area’s creek and the elementary school. After the Civil War, other wealthy Atlantans began to construct large country estates in North Buckhead. The building of Phipp’s Plaza in 1969 ushered in more modern development with condos and detached mansions becoming the norm. North Buckhead has easy access to Chastain Park — one of Atlanta’s most popular city parks — as well as natural spaces within its borders. Chastain Park less than a mile away offers some of Atlanta’s best recreational opportunities. The park boasts an extremely popular neighborhood pool, playing fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, tennis courts, walking trails and plenty of gathering spaces featuring pavilions and grills. In addition to these amenities, there is an excellent horse park, an 18-hole golf course and a community arts center. On top of all that, the Chastain Park Amphitheatre hosts huge names, including Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett and Hall and Oates. North Buckhead has some park space of its own, too. Little Nancy Creek Park is a tranquil area with an awesome playground, walking trails and fields all with the added benefit that it is never as crowded as Chastain Park’s facilities.
